James Ptacek has been working for the problem of men's violence against women for more than twenty-five years. He has pursued the work inside a number of roles: like a batterers' counselor; a researcher; a teacher; along with a trainer on institutional responses to domestic violence. His studies have dedicated to how men who batter are the main cause of their violence; rape and battering on college campuses; and battered women's experiences seeking help from the courts.
